I'm having an issue with my 1.6 tdci Fiesta on a cold start. The idle is very rough and it plumes white smoke from the exhaust. Also the check oil light comes on while this is happening. After a bit the idle smooths out, the smoke clears and the oil light goes out. I replaced the glow plugs after watching a YouTube video describing the same The boot won't open at all as it uses electric for the solenoid switch. Best thing to do is lock the car with the bonnet open then remove the battery and manually unlock the drivers door with the key blade as required. There is a fuse for backup alarm sounder if that starts, but I won't say which one publicly. The reason I'm posting is I decided this morning to change the fuel filter on my 1.6 TDCi Focus I have had it from new I do about 3K miles a year and it's done 55K and this is its first fuel filter change, I followed everything in my Haynes manual and filled the new filter with fresh diesel and used a Vaccum pump to pull the fuel If you're buying a battery for this Ford focus, expect to change the battery yourself because the highstreet shops are unlikely to do this for you for a fee. Milton. I'm just purely guessing that once your car starts the fuel pump is unable to supply enough fuel to keep it running. This forum has numerous reports of pumps going south after not being used for a long time. Ideally you would test this by attaching a fuel pump gauge and watch the fuel pressure as it starts and then dies. Ford Mondeo 2.0 TDCI Mk4 won't start. The car has recently been serviced and had a dpf replaced (yesterday). Drove 100 miles to work and now the car won't start. The engine is turning but is not catching at all.
